Description: Surface Preparation by WaterJet Methods with emphasis on Flash Rust
This four hour interactive workshop will feature:
The PILOT RUN and training protocol of a NEW
NSRP (National Shipbuilding Research Program SP-3) manual focused on ¡°HOW TO INSPECT FLASH RUST.¡±
AND
Thirty Years Perspective on WHAT happens to the SURFACE when you Waterjet or Hydroblast to strip the paint or corrosion.
Any new inspector,
port engineer, planning engineer, qa-qc supervisor,
or paint supervisor who has not seen waterjetting in action should attend. The
objective of the training manual is to reduce uncertainty between inspectors
and production personnel, and to reduce costs by removing time that is spent in
additional paperwork ¡°approval¡± for a variance.
The inspection
module includes, but is not limited to:
What
is ¡°flash rust, Rust Back, and Rust Bloom¡±
What
is light, moderate, and heavy flash rust?
What
is the comparison between the standard language and standard pictures with real
field cases.
What
are four ways to evaluate flash rust in the field in a practical manner.
How
do we identify contamination- how to recognize the problem and mitigate the consequences.
What happens to the appearance when the lighting and
illumination changes?
How
does the appearance differ between vacuum recovery and hand-held open lance methods?
How
can ¡°flash rust¡± be reduced by broom sweeping and pressure washing.
Dr. Frenzel will discuss ¡°How the Surface is affected during High Pressure or Ultra-High Pressure Waterjet Cleaning.¡±
Level of Competence- All levels- inspectors,
engineers, specifiers, jetters
Sponsored by: Advisory Council and MegaRust
Certificate of Attendance issued.
Spend personal time with Dr. Lydia Frenzel, ¡°Waterwitch of the West¡±, and the chair of the SSPC/NACE waterjetting and water-abrasive committees, and extraordinary keynote speaker.
